OUR LEARNING JOURNEY

From Play to Programming

A Structured STEM Journey for Your Child (Age 4–12)

We build thinkers first — then creators.

THE PROBLEM

Most children learn coding too early… without understanding how things work.

At Bricks 4 Kidz, we focus on building strong foundations first — so children don’t just code, they understand.

STEM Learning Journey for Kids Singapore (Ages 4–12)

AGE 4–6 (Foundation / Pre-School)

Children begin with creativity, focus and basic engineering concepts through fun, guided LEGO builds. This stage develops confidence, fine motor skills and early problem-solving abilities.

Building confidence through play

  • Creative LEGO-based building and storytelling
  • Introduction to basic patterns, counting and simple structures
  • Development of focus, fine motor skills and confidence
  • Guided learning through fun and engaging themes
  • Encouraging curiosity and love for learning

At this stage, children build confidence through play while developing the foundational skills needed for future learning.

AGE 7–8 (Discover)

Students explore simple machines, gears and motorised models. They begin understanding how things work while strengthening logical thinking and perseverance.

Exploring how things work

  • Understanding gears, levers and simple machines
  • Building motorised LEGO models
  • Strengthening logical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Learning through experimentation and trial-and-error
  • Developing perseverance and independence

Children begin to connect ideas and understand how things work in the real world through hands-on exploration.

AGE 9 (Control)

Children are introduced to basic programming concepts and structured thinking. They learn how to control builds and improve designs through testing and iteration.

Controlling technology through logic

  • Introduction to basic coding and programming logic
  • Controlling motorised builds and systems
  • Planning, testing and improving designs
  • Developing structured thinking and problem-solving strategies
  • Building confidence in tackling more complex challenges

At this stage, children move from building to controlling and improving their creations through structured thinking.

AGE 10 (Application)

Students apply STEM concepts to real-world scenarios, building more advanced models and learning how engineering connects to everyday life.

Thinking like a programmer

  • Applying STEM concepts to real-world scenarios
  • Building more advanced and functional models
  • Strengthening critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Understanding how engineering solves everyday problems
  • Encouraging creativity through open-ended challenges

Students begin to see how STEM applies to the world around them, building both confidence and real-world awareness.

AGE 11 (Integration)

At this stage, children combine coding, engineering and creativity to solve complex challenges, preparing them for future learning and innovation.

Solving complex problems

  • Integrating coding, engineering and design concepts
  • Working on multi-step and complex projects
  • Developing systems thinking and problem-solving frameworks
  • Strengthening collaboration and independent thinking
  • Preparing for advanced STEM applications

At this stage, students connect multiple concepts and begin thinking like young engineers and problem-solvers.

AGE 12 (Challenge)

Advanced STEM mastery through innovation and real-world problem solving

Creating and innovating

  • Independent innovation projects
  • Design thinking & problem-solving frameworks
  • Real-world engineering and coding applications
  • Project presentation & communication skills
  • Preparing for future STEM pathways (AI, robotics, technology, programming)

Students move beyond building to designing and innovating — preparing them for future academic and real-world challenges.
